Introduction: Making Room for Becoming
There are seasons in a woman’s life when the questions begin changing.
The questions that once centered on what you were going to do, accomplish, build, or become may begin reaching somewhere deeper. You may find yourself wondering not simply what comes next, but what God is doing within you now. You may become more aware of the distance between the life you know and something you cannot yet fully name. You may recognize that certain roles, expectations, patterns, or definitions no longer explain the whole of who you are.
Nothing may be visibly wrong.
Your life may still be functioning. You may still be responsible, productive, faithful, grateful, and deeply aware of the ways God has carried you. You may have built things you once prayed for, survived things you once thought might break you, and become capable in ways your younger self could not have imagined.
And yet, somewhere beneath everything you know, there may still be a sense that God is not finished revealing what your life can hold.
That is the territory of becoming.
Becoming, as we will explore it in these pages, is not self-invention. It is not a demand to discard who you are and manufacture someone more impressive. It is not dissatisfaction disguised as growth, nor is it permission to constantly reinvent your life whenever something becomes uncomfortable.
Becoming is the continuing process of allowing what God reveals, develops, corrects, heals, enlarges, and matures within you to become increasingly visible in the way you live.
Sometimes becoming looks like beginning something new. Sometimes it looks like releasing something old. Sometimes it looks like developing a capacity that has been present but underused. Sometimes it looks like changing the way you understand something you have carried for years.
